Colour, Shimmer and Shine Topic

This was such a busy half term and we got so much done. During our topic the children listened to a range of stories including; Lots of Lights (Diwali), Whatever Next, The way back home, Goodnight Spaceman, The Smeeds and Smoos, I want cake and The Nativity Story.
Using clay the children created Divas for Diwali. They were able to look at how the festival is celebrated and to think of other celebrations they have been too. The children learned about Space and the role play area was turned into a space centre. For the Smeds and Smoos the children were exploring what happens when colours are mixed.
The final build up was to Christemas. The children went on a Santa Dash and enjoyed performing the Nativity in front of their parents and carers. Father Christmas even made a surprise visit into our classroom at lunchtime so they wrote letters to him and made the reindeers some food.
