Worship is an important part of the daily life of our St Oswald's community.  Whole school worship takes place on a Monday and Friday.  Key Stage worship takes place twice a week and individual class worship once a week. We all participate in half termly shared worship with St Oswald's Church.

Mini church is held each half term for pupils in Early Years and their families and a communion service takes place the same week for the rest of the school and their families. Our Year 6 children take part in this service through Bible readings, prayers, and by giving bread to all the children. All are welcome to both events.  Dates of which are shared on the school website.

Our children help lead worship for the whole school every half term through our 'Worship Warriors' after school club. They rehearse and present a play that tells a Bible story, ask questions, lead prayers and teach the whole school an action song.

Every year each class has the opportunity to visit Liverpool Cathedral where they take part in workshops linked to their unit of work and also have a guided tour of the stunning building. If you visit their website there is a calander of upcoming events where you can visit with the family.

During Lent, we will be using the new 'Look IN, Look out' resources from the Archbishop of York trust. Each week leading up to Easter will focus on a different community our pupils are part of:

Family - Friends - School - Community - Country - World

There is a reading, a prayer, a thought for reflection and an opportunity to act for each of these communities. The children will be looking at this in school, and families can take up the challenge at home together too.

Covid - 19 Restrictions:

Unfortunately, under the new guidelines and restrictions in place, to prevent the spread of the virus we have had to change the format of collective worship, and suspend after school clubs and church events until further notice. Our worship sessions continue as planned and still follow the same planning but they are now held in class bubbles. We regularly send home worship activities and video clips for those at home.  We successfully held our first zoom church worship event for our Christingle Service in December 2020 and will be holding more zoom church worship events during lockdown.
