Welcome to Year 4

Christian Value: Peace

Class Prayers

Lunchtime

Let us thank God for food when others are hungry,

For drink when others are thirsty,

For friends when others are lonely.

Amen

Hometime

O God, who would fold both heaven and earth in a single peace:
Let the design of thy great love
lighten upon the waste of our wraths and sorrows:
and give peace to thy Church,
peace among nations,
peace in our dwellings,
and peace in our hearts:
through thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.

UNICEF Rights and Responsibility Article 24

Every child has the right to the best possible health. Governments must provide good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food, and a clean environment and education on health and well-being so that children can stay healthy. Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this.

Our Class

Our doors open at 8.45am each morning. The children will enter the building through the Y3/Y4 doors. It is important that children are on time each day as we start handwriting at this time.

Reading diaries should be signed and dated each night and will be checked each day. Please spend time discussing the book that your child brings home with them. It is recommended that your child reads for at least 20 minutes at least 4 times per week.

We also encourage the children to read a range of other texts in addition to their home-school reading book. We would be grateful if you could comment on other books that your child reads at home.

Don't forget, in Year 4, TT Rock Stars Club is open from 8.30am from Monday to Friday during club times. This is a great opportunity for your child to practise their times tables ready for the Year 4 Mulitplication Tables Check in June (See below for further information).

The school day ends at 3.15pm.

Physical Education

You will need: black shorts, a red T shirt, black pumps (indoor), trainers. (outdoor) [optional]. PE will be on  a Tuesday.

The children will swim on a Wednesday afternoon, until February half term and will arrive back at school at approximately 3.40PM.. The correct swimming kit is needed for pupils to be allowed into the swimming pool. Girls will need a one piece swimsuit plus a swimming hat and boys will need swimming trunks (not shorts) and a swimming hat.

Home learning

Homework will be sent home on a Friday. This will include reading at least 4 times per week for at least 20 minutes, times tables practise on TT rock stars ( 10 minutes per day), an English and Maths exercise on IXL or a paper exercise and spellings to learn.

It is important that you help and support your child to comlete their homework. If you are unsure how you can support your child, please do not hesitate to speak to your child's class teacher.

Children are encouraged to attend Study Support on Tuesday after school as they will have help, if needed, in addition to having access to the resources in school. It is a great opportunity to complete homework.
