Vision and Rights Group (VAR)

St Oswald's is very proud to have its first Ethos Group, made up of 8 pupils from Year 5 and Year 6.

They have taken on a number of roles, including:

  • Meeting with teachers and church leaders every half term to discuss our school vision and how we can develop it.
  • To play a role in the embedding the principles of Children's Rights throughout the school
  • Visiting all the classes in school to gather pupils' thoughts, ideas and opinions.
  • Greeting important visitors and showing them round school, explaining our vision and explaining we are a RRS.
  • Being involved with weekly Collective Worship - saying the prayer on our whole-school Zoom worship, and suggesting ways we can improve our worship experience. They also led our whole-school Christmas service on Zoom, which they designed and produced themselves.

They plan to meet up and work with similar groups from other schools, as soon as we are able, to see what kind of things they do and share the great things that are happening at St Oswald's.

Our leaders have created a video to introduce themselves and our Christian Values.
