Dear Friends,

I am Reverend Deb Statter and I am Rector of the Netherton and Sefton Team Ministry.

Our team ministry has two churches: St Oswald’s Church which is next to school and St Helen’s Church in Sefton village next to the Punchbowl.

St Oswald’s Church values its close links with school which have grown over the years. Our Church is involved in weekly worship in school, we have two services of Holy Communion each term to which school comes and parents are most welcome. We have Mini Church twice a term for nursery and reception and parents, carers, grandparents are so welcome to join us both for the service and also for lunch afterwards.

The Church offers an after school club on a Monday called Ozzys. There is also opportunity for Year 6 children to explore confirmation (preparation to take bread and wine at Communion).

Every year we offer ‘Experience Christmas’ and ‘Experience Easter’ giving opportunity for the Children to explore the stories of Christmas and Easter in new ways.

We have end of term services in Church. At Christmas we have a whole school Christingle service, at Easter we have a service re-enacting the story of Jesus and in summer we have a celebration of the children’s work over the year.

From time to time we have had school baptism services for children and their siblings to be christened.

We have Messy Church which is a great opportunity for families to come and have fun together. There are craft activities, a Bible story and prayer, before sharing food together. Dates for this are advertised on the church website.

Last September Year 6 children visited St Helen’s Church and completed the heritage trail, craft activities and brass rubbing.

In Church we have a children’s group called Footsteps which offers activities for children during our main service on a Sunday, with the exception of the first Sunday of the month when we hold an all age, family service where children often read and lead prayers. The majority of the children attend St Oswald’s school.

Church Lads and Girls Brigade meets each Wednesday at 6.00pm. Here children learn new skills including working together as a team and developing skills in leadership.

Please do check our Church website for the latest news on services, family events and activities.

We see our Church community and our School community as one community where everyone is valued and valuable.

We hope you will come and join us for a service,

Deb
