Reception New Starters 2020 2022 - 2023

Teacher: Mrs Carr

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Ponting

Thank you for visiting this page. Your child's transition into our Reception class is always planned so carefully and throughout this final summer term we would have the opportunity for you and your child to visit their new classroom, meet the staff and most importantly meet new friends who will be also be starting their school journey with them. Unfortunately, this year we are having to look at this transition process very differently as lot's of measures need to be put in place first.

I have created this page as a means of communication with yourselves. I will post video messages from me to your child and post ideas of things you and your child can be doing at home in order to get them school ready. There is a transition booklet attached to this page for you to read with your child. It includes lot's of useful information, such as who we are, what the classroom looks like, what your child will need to bring to school with them each day and a timetable of what a typical day in Reception class looks like. If you are new to the school take the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the school website as this is where most information, including weekly newsletters, calendar dates and photographs of events are posted.

September start details:

At St. Oswald's we are following newly released government guidance of how all pupils will be returning in September. Current arrangements maybe subject to change depending on the government announcement on Monday 14th June 2021.

Summer holidays:

As the summer holidays approach I have attached a '100 things to do before you are 6' sheet. How many activities can you tick off already? Which ones would you like to do? Have a go at completing some of them over the holidays. Feel free to draw a picture of what you have done or even take a photograph to send into school. In September you can then share your experiences with your class friends. Good luck.

National sports week:

From Saturday 19h June to Friday 25th June 2021 is National Sports Week at Home. Why not try some of the activities at home. The resource cards that are attached are just a guidance and can be adapted to suit your families needs and resources available to you. Have fun. I would love to see some photographs of you and your family getting involved so you can email them to me: uk. Title: Mrs Carr's Sporties 21
